Having an extra computer always comes in handy. So, why not solve some of your problems using one the size of a credit card? Let’s jump right into it by setting up our Raspberry Pi Zero W.

Prerequisites

In order to follow this tutorial, you’ll need the following:

  1. Raspberry Pi Zero W
  2. MicroSD Card
  3. MicroSD adapter
  4. Micro USB cable
  5. Access to your internet router

If you don’t have these, following the steps below might be problematic 🙂

Overview

Here are the steps that we’re going to follow, in order to gain access to our Raspberry Pi.

  1. Burn Raspberry Pi OS to MicroSD card
  2. Allow SSH and provide Wifi credentials
  3. Check Raspberry Pi’s IP address by logging into router
  4. Access Pi via SSH

Step 1

Burn Raspberry Pi OS to MicroSD card Navigate to https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/ and download the Raspberry Pi Imager.

Before opening the application, make sure to insert your MicroSD card (that’s where we’ll burn the OS to). First, open the application and choose “Rapberry Pi OS (32-bit)” for the “CHOOSE OS” option.
